To transfer your LINE account with a different phone number, the method will differ depending on whether you can access your LINE account before the transfer. Please refer to the following section based on your situation.I can access my LINE account before the transfer
• First, please complete the following preparations on your current LINE account.1. Set or check the information required for transferring your LINE account:
Make sure that the phone number and email address registered to your LINE account match the ones you're currently using. Also, we recommend changing/resetting your password to securely transfer your LINE account.
2. Back up your chat history:
To restore your chat history on your new device, you need to back up your chat history in advance. If you can't back up your chat history or if you're transferring your account to a different operating system (OS), you can automatically transfer your chat history from the last 14 days by setting a backup PIN beforehand.
If you're using Premium Backup, you can back up your chat history, including text messages and content (photos, videos, files, and voice messages), regardless of the OS you're using.
Note: Premium Backup is only available to LYP Premium (Japan) or LINE Premium (Thailand) members.
• After you have finished setting or checking the information above, you can transfer your LINE account with the steps below.
1. Open LINE on your new device and tap Log in.
Note: If you're using an Android device, tap Main device > OK.
2. Tap Log in with another method > Log in with phone number > Continue.
3. Select your country, enter your phone number, check the Terms and Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy, then tap
> OK or Send.Note:
- For users in Thailand, you can only proceed to the next screen if you're at least 11 years old.
- For users in Korea, you can only proceed to the next screen if you're at least 14 years old and you've agreed to the Terms and Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy.
- For users in European Economic Area (EEA) member countries, you can only proceed to the next screen if you're at least 16 years old and you've agreed to the Privacy Policy.
4. Enter the verification code you received via text message.
Note:
- On some Android devices, the verification code is entered automatically. In this case, skip to the next step.
- If you see a message that says "Welcome back, XXXX!" after entering the verification code, tap No, that's not me > Next.
5. On the "Do you already have an account?" screen, tap Yes, transfer my account.
6. Select a login method.
7. Enter the phone number or email address registered to your account, then tap
.8. Enter your password and tap

9. Continue verification on the "How to finish transferring your account" screen.
Note: See The "How to finish transferring your account" screen appeared for details.
10. Confirm the LINE account that is displayed and tap Log in.
11. On the ”Did you back up your chat history?” screen, tap Continue.
Note: Tapping Continue will make your LINE account inaccessible on your old device. If you want to restore your chat history, be sure to back them up on your old device before transferring your account.
12. Tap Restore chat history.
13. Enter your backup PIN.
Note:
- The backup PIN entry screen will appear if you have a backup PIN set on your previous device.
- See Setting a PIN code to set one up.
- If you used Premium Backup, you don't need to enter your backup PIN. (Only available to LYP Premium (Japan) and LINE Premium (Thailand) members.)
14. On the "Your chat history is being restored" screen, tap Continue.
15. Choose whether to add friends from your device's contacts, then tap
.16. For users in Japan, choose whether to verify your age.
Note: If you've already verified your age, this screen will not appear.
17. Confirm the "Regarding Usage of Your Information" consent screen.
Note: In some cases, the screens from steps 9 and 17 will not appear.
I can't access my LINE account before the transfer due to losing or damaging my smartphone
If you can't access your LINE account before the transfer, you won't be able to complete the necessary preparations for transferring it.However, you may be able to transfer your account if the following information was registered to it in advance:
- A currently available email address (i.e. you can log in to it and send and receive emails)
- Apple ID
- Google account

If you cannot transfer your LINE account with the methods above, there will be no way to transfer your account. In this case, please use LINE by creating a new account.

Note: The contents of this section only apply to LINE accounts created with LINE versions earlier than 13.11.0.You cannot transfer your LINE account with a different phone number than the one registered to your LINE account.
